I had some time to kill today, so I decided to pay a little visit to the comic shop to see if there was anything that might be of interest to me.
The first two I picked up were JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST #3 & #4.
This is one series that I’m going to follow quite closely when I get my iPad. Really, this is my favorite title by DC Comics at the moment, and I love everything about it. The Justice League International was my favorite Justice League team, so it’s nice to see them together again…even though it would appear they have been forced back together. The only thing missing from this team is Guy Gardner, Doctor Fate, Mister Miracle, Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel, Black Canary and Batman…perhaps even Oberon. Regardless, I’m happy to see this team back together…even if a couple of the members aren’t originals. At first I was really unhappy with the way they turned Maxwell Lord into a monster, but I’m really starting to warm up to this new take on him…although, I am getting a little tired of the Black Lanterns and OMACS. Still, those are just minor complaints in a book where the pros far outweigh the cons.
Next I picked up AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #636.
I haven’t been reading nearly as much Spider-Man as I’ve been wanting to, and I keep wanting to read this current storyline, but I just can’t seem to make it to the comic shop every week, and a lot of the time they’re sold out of the current issue. After reading this issue though, I’d like to make more of an effort to pick up the issues weekly…or hopefully they set up a subscription service so I can get it downloaded to my iPad every Wednesday. As for the issue itself, apparently Kraven The Hunter was brought back to life in the previous issue, and he doesn’t seem all that happy about it…Oh, and they apparently ‘killed’ Spider-Man at the end of that issue…but we all know how that tends to play out. They crammed a lot into one issue, so you gotta give the writer credit for that…and the fact that he made me change my mind about Kraven. There was a time when I was kinda happy the character was dead, because I found him to be so ridiculous, but after reading this, I’m glad he’s back, and next week’s issue will be even better!
